Berlin based singer Marie Séférian formed her new project SÉMACORDES in the context of the 50th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty.
With her family consisting of expats, Marie was inspired to put together an ensemble that transgresses not only intercultural borders, but artistic ones as well, merging sounds from classical music and jazz. Her new band comprises the Parisian string quartet Equinoxe, Colombian drummer Javier Reyes, and German bassist Tim Kleinsorge - an ensemble that skillfully interprets the singer’s original compositions.
The project was funded by the Elsa Neumann Scholarship for one year and has therefore been able to bridge the distance from Paris to Berlin.
